A finely cast Japanese bronze figure depicting a standing farmer, dating from the late Meiji period (1868–1912). The man is portrayed in traditional attire with a tied robe, pouch, and bare feet, holding a slender tool or pipe in his hands. By his side rests a farming implement, symbolizing his trade and connection to the land.
The sculpture displays remarkable attention to detail, from the expressive, timeworn face and realistic musculature to the carefully rendered folds of the robe. It stands on an integral bronze base, mounted on a bronze plinth.
