About 'Renaissance, French 17th century box'
"High Period XVIIth Century Box", called "messenger" Exterior trimmed with leather on wood core and iron hinges.
Hasp closure, the keyhole is revealed by rotating an iron paste and handle on the domed lid.
French work of the late seventeenth century.
In very good used condition. Superb patina. Absence of the key .
The interior must have once been covered with a fabric because we can see tiny traces of what must have been a red silk in the corners of the background.
