About 'Sword, Germany, date 1614 “Gassenhauer”'
A very unusual flame rapier, example of a rapier with an extravagant blade. One can probably also call this piece an alley-oop, because these rapiers were very hard-hitting at the time.
Massive iron processing with bell, this is punched, with wide-ranging crossguard ending in cones, huge, onion-shaped knob with wooden handle.
The blade has an inscription that indicates the German area with the year 1614.
Overall scarred, the blade too and with slashes and considerable residual sharpness, with traces of use. Blade has occasional traces of slashing. You can really speak of a sword. Length 106 cm, loop 88 cm.
